The historic town of Warwick once again plays host to a huge variety of outstanding events in 2009 with something for everyone and many are free of charge! The county town has well over 80 events taking place during the year and if you add to this the wide range of activity within Warwick Folk Festival, Warwick International Festival and Warwick Words Festival of Literature and Spoken Word then Warwick is truly the place to be. Warwick Words
1-4 October 2009
Warwick Words Festival of Literature and Spoken Word 1 – 4 October 2009 Warwick Words is taking place in various venues around the historic town between 1 – 4 October and promises to be a lively and entertaining four days with something for everyone.
There will be lots of outstanding performances, stimulating talks and interactive workshops to choose from including; Lunches, Afternoon teas, Larkin Walk, Festival Debate, Children’s events, Warwick Slam, Poetry Café and much more! Special guests this year include: Sarah Waters, Michael Morpurgo, Diana Quick, Joan Bakewell, Carol Ann Duffy, Steve Jones, Terry Deary, David Aaronovitch, Katie Fford, Diarmuid Gavin and many more.

Warwick Folk Festival
Singers and musicians, street entertainers and Morris dancers - it seems that anybody and everybody who enjoys folk music heads for Warwick in July each year.
Since its humble beginnings in 1979, the annual Warwick Folk Festival has developed into one of the most highly regarded folk events on the national and international scene, attracting fans from all over Britain and as far afield as the USA and Australia.
2009 will be our 30th festival! If you've not been for years, come and see what's changed. If you've never been to Warwick Folk Festival, come and see what you've been missing!
Warwick Racecourse
Warwick Racecourse is one of the leading flat and steeplechase courses and has a regular programme of 22 meetings throughout the year. The central grandstand incorporates the first stand built in 1809, amongst the oldest surviving in the country.
Guided Walks
Guided walks around the town conducted by a town guide take place on Sunday mornings from 1st May to the end of September, starting at 11.00am from the Tourist Information Centre. There will be additional walks on Easter Sunday at 11.00am and Bank Holiday Monday (pm). Walks can also be organised by prior arrangement. Ask in the Tourist Information Centre for details.
A short circular walk, marked with plaques in the pavement, around the town, is available from the Tourist Information Centre in Jury Street for a small charge.
