The historic town of Warwick once again plays host to a huge variety of outstanding events in 2008 with something for everyone and many are free of charge! The county town has well over 80 events taking place during the year and if you add to this the wide range of activity within Warwick Folk Festival, Warwick International Festival and Warwick Words Festival of Literature and Spoken Word then Warwick is truly the place to be. Warwick - a cultural centre with two International Festivals.
For a town of 27,000 inhabitants, Warwick has an unrivalled artistic life. Its superb architectural heritage and its new buildings - The Dream Factory and The Bridge House Theatre - give a unique flavour to events going on throughout the year.
Warwick Words
2-5 October 2008
Warwick will be bursting with writers, poets, illustrators, storytellers and performance poets from around the country. They will be visiting the historic buildings and venues throughout the town to perform their work.
This is our seventh literary festival and we will also be celebrating National Year of Reading; we can promise you an exciting selection of events from over 50 writers and poets. There are many ways to enjoy Warwick Words, with workshops, afternoon teas, free events, performances, walks and talks around the town.

Warwick Folk Festival
The Warwick Folk Festival, the annual programmes at The Dream Factory and Bridge House Theatre, plus a number of other active arts promoters besides Warwick Music Live, make Warwick a top cultural centre.
Warwick Racecourse
Warwick Racecourse is one of the leading flat and steeplechase courses and has a regular programme of 25 meetings throughout the year. The central grandstand incorporates the first stand built in 1809, amongst the oldest surviving in the country.
Guided Walks
Guided walks around the town conducted by a town guide take place on Sunday mornings from 1st May to the end of September, starting at 11.00am from the Tourist Information Centre. There will be additional walks on Easter Sunday at 11.00am and Bank Holiday Monday (pm). Walks can also be organised by prior arrangement. Ask in the Tourist Information Centre for details.
A short circular walk, marked with plaques in the pavement, around the town, is available from the Tourist Information Centre in Jury Street for a small charge.
